Triamcinolone acetonide helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems.
Apply Triamcinolone acetonide exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Triamcinolone acetonide is available as a cream, ointment, or lotion.
If you are using the cream, ointment, or lotion, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands.
- Clean and dry affected area before application.
- Rub the cream, ointment, or lotion gently on the skin until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
- Wash your hands after using.
- Replace the cap of the tube.
Avoid contact with your eyes. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.
Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your condition and response to the medication.
Do not stop using Triamcinolone acetonide suddenly as it may worsen your condition. Your doctor will gradually reduce the dose before stopping it completely. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to apply your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Alert your doctor if you have an infection in your skin as Triamcinolone acetonide may not be suitable for you.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine to a child.
Do not apply Triamcinolone acetonide on your face, groin, or armpits unless instructed by your doctor to do so.
Inform your doctor if your condition does not improve or it worsens.
Triamcinolone acetonide may cause any of the following side effects: burning, stinging, tingling, itching, irritation, drying, softening, and thinning of the skin.
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop using Triamcinolone acetonide and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Let your doctor know if you are using any other creams, ointment, lotions or other medicines on the affected area.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
